Engineering Technician (Traffic / Transportation Engineering):

Job Description:

Responsible for traffic data collection, entry, and organization. Provide traffic engineering support using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments. Perform daily data entry using traffic data collection software (JAMAR, STARnext, Petra Pro, MioVision), Metro Count and ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online). Successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of team lead. Primary project role and responsibilities will require daily review of data collected throughout the State of New Jersey and management of data entry into GIS performance of various design and study related traffic engineering tasks.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Review and organization of traffic data collected
• Preparation of Maps, Sketches and Photo logs of data collected
• Traffic Data Collection Entry and Analysis
• Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports
• Providing support to lead engineers to complete data review
• Assist in the preparation of traffic data collection plans, schedule, and Quality Control Documents

Required Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Participation in a team-based management style
• Experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
• Knowledge of data collection software (JAMAR, STARnext, Petra Pro, MioVision), MetroCount preferred
• Experience in ArcGIS preferred

 Required Experience:

• 0 to 2 years of design experience in the transportation field

BSCE in Civil Engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
